JFK was a lifetime member of the NRA, and Hubert Humphrey, at one time the leading liberal in the Party, said this about the Second Amendment:

The term "gun-control" didn't even appear in the Democratic Party Platform before the Zombies had charted most of their hits; that is, before 1968. Such a pop-up "issue" with such a short history. But the gun-controllers did have one indisputable accomplishment:

They created the modern N.R.A.
