Some days you get the bear, other days the bear gets you, tis the nature of things. I have as you suggested tried to dismiss the bad and put as good a face on it as possible. I have learned that all families are dysfunctional to greater or lesser extents and sometimes the only thing you can do is to keep your mouth closed and do as you are told for the time being, as no situation is permanent.
