Uncle Tom's Cabin. I remember being taught very briefly about Tom but honestly it was covered in about 15 minutes and I don't recall any more discussion about him. This article went in depth and was so interesting. I missed it. Black Life was not taught in my school (NJ) and I think it certainly has contributed to the problems today.
