Her hire at the university she teaches at part time might be another question, though, because, even though lots of white folks work in Africana Studies, her position might have been designated as a diversity hire. If that's the case, the university can fire her. In fact, because she's part time faculty and almost certainly not seeking tenure, they can fire her just because she wears the wrong shoes.
