(11,833 posts)I'm a democratic socialist and leaning toward Bernie. If nothing else, I'm glad his campaign is getting people more awake to the knowledge that we need more democratic socialism in our country, that it will greatly benefit everyone in the large majority and in minorities too. I would like to see a real grass roots movement that puts leftists in office at every level.
I don't let anyone's supporters affect my vote. I vote for the candidate I like most in spite of the more crazed supporters, not because of them. I wonder though, if you see what I see? I see some of Bernie's more rabid supporters acting very thin-skinned and defensive to the point of inanity. And almost like they are plants to sow division among the left or sow divisiveness or maybe even to specifically make Sanders look bad.
But then, I've always been a big President Obama supporter. Maybe that's how many here have seen me, in that regard. I have trouble brooking the slightest criticism of him. I feel emotionally engaged with his Administration, and I've felt like I 'have his back' along with others here, in defending him. I wonder maybe if this is something similar here. But as a strong Obama supporter I don't feel I've ever been in the majority here. Whereas the Sanders supporters here seem like the overwhelming majority right now. And many (not all) have been trashing Obama and HRC for years. And are behaving despicably toward other democrats, and other leftists. Do you see any of that? I'm interested in your thoughts because we seem pretty similar in our political ideology.
