I lean towards Bernie, and I would like to see such statements as you suggest in response to #BLM disruptions as well. I don't think he has handled it as horribly as some others seem to feel (perception/perspective is everything, yes?), but he absolutely, positively can do much better.

He's an older white man with what appears to be other white men as his main staffers. He has a steep learning curve for the national stage. I guess I'm guilty of identity politics to a degree: I would much prefer a message and platform of racial, social and economic justice be carried by presidential candidate who is a black, Muslim, gay woman. Alas, she isn't here yet.

What Washington State Senator Pramila Jayapal, who is a WoC, said yesterday re: Sanders and the Seattle rally resonates:

There's more to do and learn for sure, but is any one of us perfect? The most we can ask for is for someone who listens and cares deeply, who is trustworthy, and who will do what he says. I know I learned a lot in my campaign and I will continue to grow from listening to people's voices. I believe Bernie Sanders is growing too--and I hope (and yes, believe) that we'll look back on this and see his emergence as a leader who brings our movements for economic, racial and social justice together in a powerful way.
