(10,786 posts)Overall, he's the best candidate on the issues, by far, and he's the only candidate who is not completely bankrolled by corporate interests and the 1%.
So the question for me becomes, how can he and we overcome these two big problems?
For many of Sanders' DU supporters, the first problem is not a real issue. Because they cannot see the landscape from the point of view of POC, they cannot fathom how POC cannot see that Bernie would be the best candidate for them.
For many of Clinton's DU supporters, these are not problems to be overcome, but wedges to be exploited to their favored candidates gain. That is completely understandable, if you think your favored candidate is the better choice for whatever reason.
But is playing this gambit along with Ciinton's supporters actually helping BLM's cause? Wouldn't it help BLM more to use this opportunity to engage and educate Sanders supporters, even painfully obtuse supporter like me? Most of us are guilty only of white privilege. We think that we hate racism, but we are simply not yet willing or able to see racism from the point of view of the victims of racism. So why not use this as an opportunity to educate to unite rather than an opportunity to exploit to divide?
