(6,309 posts)(and gay) who is doing well financially, doesn't buy into the "We Shall Overcome" message of white Democratic liberals, and just wants tax breaks.
I don't agree with him on much of anything, but I always keep in mind that he exists. I was especially amused when he defended Sarah Palin...
There is an overwhelming sentiment in DU that a black Republican is automatically deluded. Selling out. Not supporting "the people". Somehow ignoring the racism of the Republican party (as though there are no racists in the Democratic Party!) But when you meet an intelligent black Republican, who can comfortably argue why he has chosen that party, it gives pause for thought.
Democrats take us for granted. And if that chases some black people out of the party, the Republicans will welcome them.
I would add that many Democrats act as though we are all poor and need government assistance. If you get too sick of it, you start considering your options.
