(20,450 posts)at the local Montgomery County hotel. Well, of course, this hotel wasn't fancy enough for Van Hollen to show his face. (Well, maybe he did, but I didn't see him for long and he wasn't approachable if he was there.)
Donna was the ONLY one to really show up and celebrate as the returns came in. I remember when VA came in and we cheered. In my drunken stupor, I ran over to Donna and hugged her and told her how much I loved her. And she gave me a huge hug back and told me how wonderful we were and congratulated us on how hard we worked. It was never about her. It was about us! And we ended up partying for several hours, drinking and having a great time. I will never forget that night--the night Obama won and how much fun we had. And I will never forget how awesome, humble, and amazing she was. I had been a huge fan throughout her career and the major fight to beat the hated conservaDEM Al Wynn. When she finally beat him--and BADLY, too!--people were having Donna parties everywhere! It was great. When I moved from her district, I was so sad. I now have to settle for boring, milquetoast Chris Van Hollen.
I don't know how Donna is doing in the polls. I see Van Hollen signs everywhere, but that could be because I'm in his district. I need to get out and work for Donna now.
