In fact, it would be impossible to build a solid case against Clinton in such a short piece. And the idea that a man of Lincoln's political powers and insight might very well have found a way to mitigate the excesses of the South's attempt to re-subjugate the population of ex-slaves is not far-fetched. If anything, it smacks of the optimism and idealism for which Bernie is known.
