Well said, Quayblue!
Part of me driving my children and my extended family the way I do is due to how the system is set up.
And a large part of it (also) is empathy and being in it for the long haul because none of what we have now is due to overnight changes and quite frankly, never will be. Who would I, or any of us black folks be, to abandon and talk down to those of us who have not been through this portion of the system, to be where we are now??? Truly, wtf.

Good LORD you nailed it.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING on this web site says to me "I have never known any black people" better than this small cadre of loud mouthed simpletons that ride 1SB's and other folks' ass because they are not living in the ghetto. NOTHING.
Because black folks know that black folks of ALL stripes go through hell and back. The freaking UN has openly suggested that America look at reparations! http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=53124#.Vq_th7J96Uk Do you think that the UN would turn its nose up and say that middle class and upper middle class blacks haven't experienced PROFOUND racism and racial discrimination, likely at every level of their professional and educational career?
The vast majority of upper middle class black folks didn't have shit handed to them. They usually got where they are from working their natural asses off and doing just what you're doing with your own children -- riding them like a ferris wheel! Making DAMN sure that they understand that being black is still an impediment today, that they STILL have to work twice as hard to get half as far. The day will come when this will no longer be true but we ain't nowhere near there yet.
And to make it so bad, most black women will tell you that they are taking care of their own children, their mamas and/or daddies, their brother's kids, their neice's kid, half the damn neighborhood because of the racism and discrimination that still results in alot of our people having children and being unable to care for them, puts too many black men behind bars and keeps too many of our folks un and under-employed. We need to be making every damn dollar that we can because our whole damn community is riding on us.
So I've got no time for the mouthbreathers that have "decided" that more educated/affluent black folks don't know what it means to be black and that THEY do just because they are broke as hell. The fact that this is probably one of the most ignorant, and offensive things that gets tossed around DU truly speaks to how ridiculous this place is now. And it's particularly egregious when you take into consideration that one of the biggest Obama and America hating black people here, actually tried to use MLK to REGULARLY attack this president, was lauded by this same crowd and by every account, she had more money than all of us put together. These people can all go straight to hell.
