4. I understand the anger, but not the way that it was expressed

And I share your frustration and rage at the way our community has been maligned by people who love to pat themselves on the backs the hardest with how "liberal" they are.

Girl, they have never been worthy of your attention and they are even less worthy of your time.

I know that an apology is not enough for many, but I hope it will help begin the process of mending fences.

Operating on the assumption that these are people who want the fences to be mended or, more importantly, that anyone in this forum would want to be "mended" with, of course. I have seen the folks racing around posting your comments in completely unrelated threads or creating OPs about your comments and they are not individuals that I have even the tiniest, most microscopic interest in even having a 2 sentence conversation with, let alone stand shoulder to shoulder with on any issue.

But I understand that your words have actually hurt people and I hope that your obviously heartfelt apology allows you and THEM -- the people who were actually hurt by your words and are not the ones using them as part of the never ending campaign to run you off of DU -- to begin to heal and mend fences.
