my father has had that talk with me plenty of times over the years, especially during all the high profile killings of young unarmed Black males. He gave me exactly the same tips such as always saying "yes/no, sir", and that the less I say to them (if I ever get stopped by an officer), the better. I know that most officers are decent people and aren't like that, but I can't help but be alarmed at the rates of these incidents and the disproportionate number of us being stopped and locked up compared to other demographics.
