(24,544 posts)as far as I'm concerned.
it's telling that people, who benefit from a certain system of racial inequality, would rather not speak up against unfairness -if that unfairness keeps them comfortable.
I've been saying that same thing for as long as I can remember. The people here who rail -- and I mean literally RAIL, braying at the moon like wolves in heat -- about the Third Way and how horrible and terrible centrists and moderates are (you know, the folks that make up 80 FUCKING percent of the population) are usually the EXACT SAME PEOPLE that trip over themselves to kick and rec threads that openly pine for a return to the Good Old Days when white folks could work a third as hard and still have 20 times more money and power than everyone else because of racism, sexism, discrimination against sexual orientation etc.
I can't tell if these people are crazy or naive. It's very hard for me to rail about the Third Way (a group I know next to nothing about and couldn't care less about) or the 1% when the person right next to me that's in the same economic boat as I am is all too happy to transport us BOTH back to a time when only he was able to live a comfortable life regardless of his intelligence, abilities or work ethic and seems to want that more than anything else. From where I sit, the 1% is only PART of my problem. These folks pining for FDR and the 1930s are just as big as of a problem for me and my family as any of the groups they rail against and judging by the number of black folks sitting around ranting about the Third Way (which is practically none), I don't think I'm the only person of color who feels this way.
