Racism...alive and well in the Democratic Party

But, you know what...that's okay. I needed that. Do you know how many jokes we make about the 3 black people at the Tea Party Rallies? If they're clueless, this means I've been clueless, too. There are some good people from all kinds of backgrounds at DU.

But, the others...they're basically vote pimps.

We spend our time supporting the things that are most important to them. Our children continue to die, the people from our communities will continue to be locked up for everything and anything, discrimination will continue to be institutionalized within our government. Because for them...because if they've had ANY KIND OF MISFORTUNE, HARDSHIP, OR SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO WORK HARD LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE...it equates to they don't have a built in privilege. Their kids aren't automatically pulled over, stopped,and shot. But, I need to sit down and shut up.

You know what, Number23...I probably could have been at a Tea Party Rally and not been told that. I would have been supporting some bad policies, and surely there would have been racists in the crowd. But, I'm willing to bet no one would have walked up to me, as a black woman, and told me to get a job, pay my taxes, and shut the hell up.

So, this isn't on him. If I stick around here...it's on me. I've been pondering that, since this incident. Is my self esteem so low, that I'm willing to tolerate that hostile BS on a "democratic" website? Why should DU chastise him? He's not the one in the wrong place...I am.
