(135,425 posts)Some who use that banner, I believe, think it's like waving a flag in front of a bull--it's not about support, necessarily, it's about goading and baiting. Particularly when the putative candidate has made it clear as new glass that she's finishing her term, she has no national network, no "on the ground" strategy...and she goes HOME to her own state most weekends. No forays to Iowa, or NH, or Chicago, or the west coast.
Some would go so far as to call that whole banner waving business "trolling from the left." I'm not prepared to say that's the case, necessarily, but I do know that this kind of thing does happen--the Paulbots excel at it.
Funny how support for outsider, way left of mainstream candidates (or ones who are wrongly/falsely PERCEIVED that way) often--not always, mind (because you know someone will start whining, and if the shoe doesn't fit they should not wear it) -- is rather strangely accompanied by a dislike for attitudes they regard as "PC." Yeah, we're far left, but we don't acknowledge cultural, racial or gender-based sensitivities! There's also an enthusiasm for many POVs that the Paulbots hold near and dear, and a general unwillingness to acknowledge that people who say they are hurt or insulted have a point.
Majority rules, and if you're not in the majority, well...a big letter six of the alphabet to you!!!
