(20,450 posts)stringent gun laws". Had it not been for my posting of BCS statistics, articles, Tim Wise diatribes, this person would not have been checked. What is more heartbreaking for me is that no one alerted the post; no one found it offensive or racist.
And yet, I proclaim--without ever backing down--that some of the worst racists are white liberals; or, that there are racists in the Democratic Party and right here on DU and I get all kinds of self righteous responses and had my post hidden.
The fact that people can say/write the most ridiculously offensive and outrageous things about blacks and are never held accountable for that on DU showed me a lot, and that was one of the main reasons why I left.
And I don't care what anyone says: I believe that the vitriol and hyperbolic reactions directed at this president has something to do with his race, whether unconscious or deliberate racism. I believe that many people say and do things that are incredibly racist and not even realize it. I think unconscious or psychological racism plays a huge role in how this president has been treated and how people of color have been treated in general. And by the way, I think unconscious racism is also at work in the way so many here are outraged by the discussions about "white privilege". That they cannot see--or refuse to understand--the concept of white privilege speaks volumes in my view.
