4. It's definitely the case that a lot of the problem is generated by bots

The creators of those bots (ie, Russia) uses bots of all political stripes. THe ones on Xitter amplify the right wing BS (and are accepted by RWers), and the ones on Threads are pushing the far left ideas, and in the same way that they work on Xitter, are accepted by people initially as real and rational, and then move to the extreme once folks are hooked. They can have 5 followers, or they can have 5000 followers, it just depends on how well they are operated. As always, the Russians pit both sides agasint the middle to divide and conquer. The best way to fight them is to not engage, hide their responses from eveeyone and then block the accounts.

This is not to say that there are no humans that are idiots, but a large percentage, probably 80% or more, are (as you say) Botactivists, who are there to create dissent.
