(34,648 posts)I agree with everything you wrote here. We should be for free expression of ideas, i may not be artful at times but i have great enthusiasm and I am trying to help identify issues before they get too serious. Many feel like their votes are taken for granted and we want our issues heard and our votes earned. Maybe after midterms my ideas will be more appreciated and we can try this again.
I can understand that hearing me say twenty year from now things are going to be very different and minorities will become a majority and the country will be more liberal may sound like i'm waiting for it and some may not be here to see it can be scary. But i'll be old by then and will miss out on some things the youth will be doing, and i still feel excited about it. I have been hearing it was coming since i was in elementary school and the projected dates keep getting closer and closer.
We had very few youth here and few minorities but the party has many and they are the future not us. We are here to make things right for them because i always think my children are more important than i am. I never want them to bow down, watch their tone, or shut up to prevent upsetting the establishment. I teach them to fight for what you want, speak out, apologize if you hurt some one, and try to keep moving towards the goal. Let nothing stand in your way and learn to find a way around obstacles.
We are a mixed family with many races and we know how hard it is to navigate this world with color. I think those who have the privilege to not suffer discrimination should be magnanimous to those who do and not find reasons to attack them but bring them into the fold and accept them for who they are without trying to mold them to suit their needs.
