In reply to the discussion: Black Republicans, I don't get it [View all]MrScorpio
(73,772 posts)10. Oh, I can explain that! It's pretty straight forward...
I explained it to the damn nazis on the Discussionist. Obviously, one of them weren't too happy to hear about it, check out this exchange: http://www.discussionist.com/1015109622

4. That is unfortunate, of course...
But I'd like to gauge her (Glo Smith, a black Republican running against Rep Corinne Brown in Florida) chances of winning by seeing how much sympathy she's going to get from complaining about it and from whom that sympathy is coming.
4. That is unfortunate, of course...

8. "4. That is unfortunate, of course..."
You can't be serious...not while not being on crack can you be serious.
The horrific twitter stuff about Sen. Tim Scott, Mia Love..most EVERYTHING from the left about Condi Rice,...
"UNFORTUNATE"......holy flying monkey shit.

10. Well, I will grant you this...
That she's very good at telling a crowd of mostly white Republicans what they want to hear, in order to get their support.
But, of course, that's how most black conservatives roll, they're blatant self-serving opportunists. Playing the mostly white right for votes, of whom are looking for some confirmation from outlier black voices about the dangers of the American "Welfare State." I'm just saying that from her own words and the people that she associates with, I would rate her chances of beating Rep Corrine Brown as very slim.
I took a look at who she follows on Twitter: https://twitter.com/GloForCongress/following And she seems to be enamored with the standard cast of characters that you'd find on the Right Wing, Beck, Hannity, Gutfeld, the Fox and Friends crew, Tea Party groups, not mention those members of the conservative brain trust, like Victoria Jackson and Chuck Woolery.
I'm sure that you're a bit dismayed by my apparent skepticism. But as a long time observer of right wing politics, let's just say that after seeing plenty of Republican dirty tricks in my day (falsely blaming Democrats for atrocities in one way of the other), that kind of stuff as left me a bit jaded.
But, wrong is wrong, of course. Sometimes dirty politics gets too dirty.
This unfortunate incident does take it a bit too far for my own tastes No matter which side is truly responsible.

12. "But, of course, that's how most black conservatives roll, they're blatant self-serving opportunists
Do you realize you've done yourself ABSOLUTELY no good with your screed?
Just say it...In your eyes shes an Auntie Tom..incapable of individual thought.
Because she follows(per you) ".... cast of characters that you'd find on the Right Wing, Beck, Hannity, Gutfeld, the Fox and Friends crew, Tea Party groups, not mention those members of the conservative brain trust, like Victoria Jackson and Chuck Woolery.".....those followings.... YOU disagree with, it's an Unfortunate incident.
The WOMAN IS A CONSERVATIVE...should she follow Sue Rice, Michelle, Oprah, Whoopie, Donna Brazille?
What If someone did that to a Susan Rice's campaign poster(she may run)...you know she follows leftist Tweeters, and use that as an excuse for the crap done to this lady?
Idiocy
AGAIN........ holy flying monkey shit
You are damn lucky I don't alert on people...or this stupidity...."that's how most black conservatives roll, they're blatant self-serving opportunists"

13. Don't tell me that you did not know...
That that's why most black people cannot trust black conservatives. Wow.
I hate to be the sole black person to tell you that, but it's absolutely true. Looks like I'm really doing a devastating job of upsetting your entire world view here. But it's not exactly a secret, if you're a black person in this country.
Black conservatives owe their primary allegiance to the mostly white conservative movement The very same movement that goes out of its way to tell most black people that they're lazy and they're criminals. Do you think that that kind of stuff sounds any better coming out of a black person's mouth?
Are we as black people are supposed to respect outright clowns like Herman Cain, Allen West and Clarence Thomas? Really, now?
C'mon. What makes you think that most black people would ever trust some self-serving, opportunistic black conservative, playing the mostly white, right wing voters for suckers? From where do you that think the character of Uncle Ruckus on the BOONDOCKS came from?
Sure, I have to praise the utter willingness of black conservatives to sacrifice their own souls on the altar of American white conservatism, it takes a lot of nerve to destroy ones own self-respect like that.
But if black conservatives ONLY resonate on the right, you should be willing to ask yourself why it's the case.
I'm being totally sincere with you here. No joke.
But sometimes the truth is really hard to take, you know?

Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining...
You taught me ONE thing I did NOT know today...that you were a black person.
You know what..I don't give a flying monkey shit WHAT your skin color is.
A 2nd thing you've taught me....the crap I see on twitter when a lady is abused like this...some leftist black people(like you) will vilify, denigrate, make utterly STUPID comments like you did... ""But, of course, that's how most black conservatives roll, they're blatant self-serving opportunists.".
What the hell is it with the interracial animosity...HATE, is the word I'd use, from you and those like you.. to those you disagree with, of the same color? I very much disagree with John McCain and Lindsey Graham..full fledged rinos but I'd never call the wingnuts "crackers"....yet you are good calling the defacing(turning her face white) of a black conservatives poster an "unfortunate incident".
I have no clue how old you are....as I didn't know your race...but I suspect I've got a "few yrs" on you based on your postings(idiocy).
Been there done that....I have no problem calling you a bigot...per MW..": a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious or political group)

17. Oh, please. I'm not insulting that woman on Twitter There's no point to it. She's going to lose.
Of course, I do understand why others find her utterly distasteful and how that kind of thing finds it way on Twitter. But that's not my bag, baby. And I totally agree with you that those who would be classified as Saltine Americans have been unfairly treated in this country. But you know, I'm not playing that game either.
Despite all of that, it's only you and I who are having this discussion here, just two people. I have nothing to gain from lying to you either way. I'm just trying to give you this opportunity to hear how most black people on the other side, regard the black conservative movement. It's not pretty for a very good reason, sad to see you're realizing that just now.
Plus, I don't have any reasons to call you any names, myself, despite your penchant of doing so against me. I just wanted to point that out. You're talking to someone you has grown a pretty thick skin and has lived long enough to grow that thick skin, for a very good reason as a black guy living in America. I'm in my fifties, by the way.
So lay it on me, I'm cool.
But I have to tell you that if I were a white conservative in this country, knowing what I know about the opportunistic methods of black conservatives, I just may break down and find it really embarrassing to be falling for all of the pandering to your side that you get from those guys. I really don't know why you can't see it.
When I see those sterling examples of the black American experience, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, continually lending their endorsements to black conservative pandering, that should be a really big clue right there that something is really amiss. But to the right wing, it goes right over their heads.
It's also not pretty, for a fairly self-aware and observant fellow like myself, to see other blacks pander to mostly white, right wing voters and hear them parrot the kind of stuff that their sponsors have written out for them. But the black conservative message and those black conservative messengers, whom you admire so much, are ONLY suppose to resonate ON the right. It's a tool that right wing politicians use to validate their own negative feelings for blacks as a whole, by getting black conservative concurrence. Most black people in this country aren't voting them.
That lack of support for the right by most black voters is a bit painful, I'm sure. No one likes being rejected, right?
But hey, at least you've got black conservatives to tell you exactly what you want to hear. And if you don't believe me, all you need to do is just ask them.

you just don't get it.
Instead of fully condemning the vandalism you make up excuses for why it's an "unfortunate incident" and go on to say it's not YOU on twitter mocking the lady...that makes it all cool....it wasn't you.
Everybody has a pack of bigots....it's sad you want to be of that ilk from your side.

28. Oh, C'mon, it's not like I did it. So why are you mad at me?
I see giving that her that white face that was nothing more than a pointless and wrong headed move by whomever did it And pretty redundant as well. But you can't dispute the fact that it got her name in the news, right? I never heard of her before today, that's for sure.
There's no such thing as bad publicity, my friend.
But, it's good to see her running with this. Your reaction here is showing that the opportunity that she's taking with it is definitely working for the right people. But considering what her adopted political background is, don't depend on a lot of sympathy from me, or most other black people.
This is politics, it's not a game for the either the weak or the timid. Black conservatives are always willing to go that extra mile for the Republican vote.
So, I can only admire that kind of pandering. It takes plenty of gumption to go that far.

40. I am being totally candid with you here...
Like I said before, I'm guessing that you're not used to this level of candidness and it's coming as a bit of a shock to you.
That's quite alright, I'm here to help you through this.
We can get through this together.
OK. You can insult me some more now. It's all good, I'm ready for it.
