to try to explain to me why he was bothered by a mixed race couple in the neighborhood - a black man with a white woman - I really wanted to know because until then I had seen no signs of overt racism in him - he told me, "I KNOW this sounds ridiculous but, it feels like "they" are taking "our" women" - yup
