Being black you are born with a target on your back, simply because of the bastards who see the color of your skin as a defining characteristic of a set of human beings that are just like them. (Unfortunately people one would think are "friends" often the worst enablers of racism and servitude. Nothing has changed in this aspect since the early days of labor struggles, and then civil rights...people who most insist they are on your side should always be a little suspect. But I digress.)
You never know if, or when, that target is going to get lit up by a threat, or how many times, no matter what you do, Not because of you. Because of the person who sees you as less of a human being than another.
And those are the people one's "friends" are allowing. With friends like this one could die.
