a common denominator of many stupid crimes.

i rather suspect the guy didn't intend to commit a crime, although he might have been insincere about having real interest in buying the car. he simply found himself momentarily alone in a car that can do 0-60 in the blink of an eye, his foot probably acted before his brain kicked in and said,

uh, oh shit, what now...?
