1945 was the last year the Cubs won the National League pennant. I was born in 1951.

My dad, who was born in 1911, lived to be 98 and not once during his lifetime did the Cubs win the World Series.

I used to root for a Cubs-Red Sox World Series "When one of them would finally have to win." Both teams made post season in 1998, but neither played in the Series. During the years I said I wanted to see a Cubs-Red Sox World Series, somebody at DU said he thought there was something about such an event in the Book of Revelations. I think that's just a rumor, since I wasn't able to find it there. Perhaps somebody who knows the Bible better than I can confirm that.

In any case, the point of such a series was lost when the Red Sox swept the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 series.
