Broncos Owner Gives Up Control of Team Due to Alzheimer’s disease [View all]

Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen will relinquish control of the team after acknowledging he is dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.

Team president Joe Ellis will assume control of the team, according to the Denver Post.

“It’s a really, really sad day,” Ellis said. “It’s sad for his family, his wife and his seven children. It’s sad for everyone in the organization. And it’s sad for all the Bronco fans who know what Pat Bowlen meant to them as an owner. It’s a day nobody wanted to see happen.”
The 70-year-old Bowlen has led the Broncos to two Super Bowl championships in six appearances in his 30 years as owner.

That is a shame. 70 is much too young.
