I think some that there is some bias against having two teams from one state in the playoffs. I also think that having two smaller private schools may be factoring into the thought process. Having it come down to Alabama, Oregon, TCU and Baylor is probably the least favorite scenario for TV ratings as far as the selection committee is concerned.

If either Alabama or Oregon loses it might move Ohio State into the mix, but I think that the selection committee would still keep them seeded in the top four teams before putting Baylor into contention.
