CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It can't bode well for Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel that his new offensive coordinator, John DeFilippo, didn't study Manziel's film before taking the job.
It's highly unusual for a candidate not to dig into the film of the potential starting quarterback before accepting a position, one NFL coordinator told Northeast Media Group.
And it's not like DeFilippo didn't do his due diligence before becoming the Browns' sixth coordinator in six years on Wednesday. He acknowledged at one point in his interview that "I've done my research on this team.''
Yet, he didn't study the No. 22 overall pick from last season, who was drafted to be the Browns quarterback of the future. The guy who could potentially make or break him as a first time coordinator.

DeFilippo has been a Quarterbacks coach. His last stint was was in Oakland from 2012-2014 tutoring Derek Carr, Matt McGloin and (one would assume) Terrelle Pryor.
If Manziel had taken the off-season route like 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (who's roster position is hardly in the same perilous position), he'd be studying film and practicing with his wide-outs. According to the link above, Manziel is partying in Aspen with receiver Josh Gordon.
DeFilippo said in his first Browns' press conference, "We're not sure if our starting quarterback is in the building right now or not. If he is that's great. If he's not, that's great too.''
The guy that recommended Manziel to owner Jimmy Haslam, last year's QB coach Dowell Loggains, was fired.
Add it together -- it points to a short Browns career for Johnny Douchebag.
