Canelo won by KO in round 3. This is a candidate for "fight of the year" (and "knockout of the year&quot . People are correctly comparing it to Hagler vs Hearns. It actually had more action.

Both men landed hard, clean shots, to both the head and body. Alvarez demonstrated his superior skills. He appears to be improving, and may not reach his peak for four more years, at the age of 28.

At this point, his only flaw is that he is not good at stalking an opponent with good footwork. But against anyone who comes towards him, he has a devastating delivery system. I doubt that Cotto, who is nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career, can last twelve rounds with Canelo. The most competitive fight would be against GGG.
