Selig may force Cubs to give up 'significant' compensation for Theo [View all]

The Theo Epstein compensation still has not been resolved. The Cubs and Red Sox were so unproductive on their own, it was placed on the desk of MLB commissioner Bud Selig last week, but nothing concrete has happened since then, either.

However, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe thinks Selig may wind up giving the Red Sox something significant.

“I think the commissioner will give the Red Sox a significant player," one AL GM told Cafardo. "I don’t think MLB wants executives leaving their teams before their contracts are up and therefore he will try to deter teams from doing that again.’’
