...take away from the game. 'Entertainment for the rubes' but in this day and age, a massive money-making scheme to further exploit some talented players. You don't see the best hitters, the guys that can hit something other than the long ball, cookie or not. You get up and comers that disappear when they stop getting "cookies" to hit.

Or you get the few hitters that year after year can knock a few out of the park. Boring!
Last time I watched was when Joey Batts competed and that was just to make sure he didn't get caught up in the BS of it all. He didn't.
