After they retired, my mom and late stepfather included in their travels an annual trip to French Lick, Indiana. One year, while bowling, they met Larry Bird and ended up spending the rest of the day with him. After that, until they were unable to travel, they would let him know when they were planning a trip there and he would always arrange to get together with them.
