I can't imagine Venus will last much longer as a pro with the Sjogren's syndrome diagnosis. I know she promises to come back and all that, but it's just hard. I used to run marathons but finally was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis a few years ago (I'm in my mid 40s now). My dad has the disease as well and for us there is very little skin disease - it is mostly in our joints. Mine is moderate and with medication I am doing very well. Phil Mickelson, the golfer, seems to be having good results as well. But golf is very different from tennis or running - it is not nearly so jarring on the knees and hips. I gave up my running and switched to long walks with my dog. Not nearly so much weight coming down on your knees when you walk. If I were Venus at this point I think I'd consider coaching.
I've always liked Kim - hope she can recover from the injuries and keep at it awhile. She's almost 30 now too ...
