And yes, Florida State got screwed harder than Alabama would have had they not been selected. From a tv standpoint, though, ESPN got a better Rose Bowl match-up as a result. A year from now such shenanigans will no longer be an issue, even though I would have preferred adding two teams instead of tripling the field, but whatevs.
