A little device called a car radar sensor, usually tucked behind the front plate or automaker emblem, helps with features like cruise control and collision avoidance. And thieves want them.
Theres a lot of bells and whistles on cars that people dont realize they have, said Oleg Lurye, a production manager at National Auto Body in Rockville, Maryland.
A video obtained by News4 shows thieves stealing the sensors in Baltimore. The growing occurrence prompted increased police patrols in D.C.-area neighborhoods.
Theres definitely a way for someone to make quick money by reselling them, Lurye said.
