3. All available bikes should do 5 miles easy...

In my case, 5 miles of purely using the throttle (no pedaling) uses about 100wh of power. All ebikes have batteries with more capacity than that.

I have a cheap Chinese kit (bought years ago) that works great, but is heavy. I replaced the battery with one from Luna Cycle, known American supplier of durable batteries (all made in China, but using Panasonic cells). I found a steel-frame bike in my neighbor's trash to put the kit on.

Radpower bikes have good reviews, but if you can DIY it a kit would be much cheaper depending on what you spent on the bike.
