Your fledged Blue Jay may well be safe, though.

I love Blue Jays! And for first time ever I have a pair nesting in my yard as well! A White Ash about 24 feet up contains their loosely built nest, just above my garden. And, I think they picked that nesting spot because there was easy access to tree rootlets I had tilled out of my garden and tossed over a fence.

Smart, independent, beautiful, rascal Blue Jays are always welcome! if you ever have the fortune of holding a newly feathered baby Blue Jay they have a sweet smell which is hard to describe, but very memorable.
