(11,181 posts)63. I see a big difference between an organization and a religion.
The organization, in this case the Vatican, is the government which sets forth policy, just as the government of any country does. The religion is way bigger than any interim government, just as the US, as a nation, is far bigger than any one administration, or series of administrations.

The funding issue has come up before. Yeah, they receive $2.9 b from the federal govt.
