Effective treatment would be an investment in prevention, while incarceration only makes things worse.
I fully agree that one ought not be subjected to 12 step programs or other God based programs, that alternatives need to be available and they are out there.
And upon reading the article, those found responsible were breaking the law, so an example needs to be made to prevent future repeats.
But rewarding an individual with what should have been a fine seems silly and could encourage similar lawsuits.
Can this man really have suffered to the tune of $2 million for sitting though and hearing the occasional term "higher power"?
I just don't see it.
