5. Good question. It's because no one wears ribbons or

has a march or even advocates for the psychiatrically ill. They can't speak for themselves and no one speaks for them.

Even if one has private insurance, it is increasingly hard to get any kind of decent psychiatric coverage and medicare limits are ridiculous. Medicaid reimbursement in most states is so low that practitioners lose money if they accept it. Private hospitals across the country have closed their psychiatric units because they can't sustain them economically.

It's a national shame.
