1. Well, of course the media focuses on a denier

To exist, the media needs "controversy," ginned up or otherwise. If nintey-nine people say "the sky is blue," the media will find that one guy who insists "the sky is charteuse!" and will use his assertion to claim there is some controversy as to the actual color of the sky. The news isn't that 99% of people agree on something, the news is that "there's a debate"
