Terrence Malik's wonderful Tree Of Life is full of biblical and religious references. The son R.L. is revealed as the Jesus figure when it is he who can play a perfect duet with his father. A wonderful scene.

Also on my list is the daughter in "Proof".

The returning husband in Sommersby ( The
Return Of Martin Guerre).

Maureen Stapleton in Woody Allen's "Interiors".
