You probably know him in ways that the rest of us don't. But... he posted some things that were pretty inflammatory about nonbelievers without offering up any sort of real apology, and it rubs a lot of us the wrong way. We can only judge him within the context in which we know him, and it's not a positive relationship for many of us.
I know you're going to keep defending him, but while you do, keep in mind that some of the ideas he has are grossly offensive to us. And while we have to put up with it in real life, DU is the last place we expect to get it. If we seem angry about it, it's because we ARE angry.
