... heaping praise upon a man whose opinions on homosexuality and women's rights are diametrically opposed to the progressive paradigm, a man who, were he a Republican congressman rather than a Catholic pope, would have received nothing short of unanimous contempt from the regular forum denizens.

Perhaps we were not reading the same threads.
