8. I forget sometimes how big Texas is.

I just looked at a map of east Texas and there is a whole lot of nothing in between Dallas and Houston. The only other thing I can think of would be to see if there are any gay bars around there anywhere. I don't know how y'all feel about going to gay bars, but in some areas, they're the places where the offbeat people congregate, gay or straight. You and your hubby will still be welcome, I'm sure. I saw that there's one in Longview; I don't know how far that is from where y'all are. Unfortunately, you're best bet for meeting people is probably in a watering hole of some type. Some of the people will be drunks, but at least they won't be trying to save you all the time.
