5. When I was a kid, I confused the words "minions" and "onions."

To this day, when I hear about minions, I can't help but to think "onions," and your sentence read:

"Fantasy novelists are after all, as everyone knows, onions of Satan."

I also thought "stool pigeon" was another way of saying "midget."
