Education minister instructs state-religious schools in which half of parents wants daughters to study ancient rabbinic writings – to allow them to do so

Talmud has long been considered a subject studied exclusively by boys – but not anymore. A new Education Ministry revolution sees all state-religious schools offering lessons on the collection of ancient rabbinic writings for girls too as per their parents' request.

According to an instruction issued by Education Minister Shai Piron, from now on, if half of parents in state-religious educational institutions request that their daughters study Talmud, they should be allowed to do so.
