it certainly makes no sense to stay affiliated with an institution that you have had this kind of experience with.
I think there are as many reasons for attending or not attending as there attendees and non-attendees.
Not sure what "my many" is. I know a wide variety of people who attend services and who do not. It's really hard to generalize why they do or don't.
