Those who are attracted to the priesthood accept without reservation the church's medieval teachings on sexuality. The bishops who attended Vatican II would be considered to be heretics by today's clergy. Most Catholics that I have met are totally unaware that Pope John XXIII appointed a commission to examine the church's stance on contraception and that the commission's final report that was issued by the bishops on the commission recommended that the church should change it stance on contraception. The future John Paul II, who was a late appointee to the commission actually boycotted the commission's final meeting in which the vote was taken. He said that he had been denied a visa, however, the government said that was untrue. The fact was that he was busy writing what would become a substantial portion of Humane Vitae reinforcing the church's condemnation. The Vatican attempted to impose silence on the members but a number refused and came out with the truth. The sole reason that the Vatican would not reverse itself was that they feared that the authority of the pope would be in question. We all know how that turned out.
The laity must come to the realization that the Catholic Church is now under the control of extremists who will eventually drive out anyone who doesn't accept the church's sexually repressive teachings. The Catholic Church in the U.S. will eventually follow what has transpired in Europe to little more than a handful of deluded ass kissing dimwits. The vast majority of Europeans regard those who still attribute the church with any authenticity as being mentally impaired. The fact is that the attempt by Pope John XXIII to make the church relevant to the needs of today's society has been totally destroyed by John Paul's determination to impose unreasonable demands on the membership. Only the most narrow minded zombies can be attracted to the dysfunctional cult of the celibate priesthood. The pedophilia that infest the priesthood is not an aberration, but is exactly what is to be expected by the abnormal suppression of normal sexual outlets. The cult of the celibate priesthood is has been absolutely condemned by Jews as being against the very first commandment to server your ties to your parents and become one with your mate. They were well aware that it was a superstitious practice that was totally of pagan origin and regarded it as heretical. I came to totally share this view of the practice after being encourage by a Jewish friend to examine the Jewish teachings on these issues.
