5. That is has -- for too long, for too many . . .

Since I was a young man, I've believed that love is such a rarity it should be encouraged wherever encountered, and to deny it a crime against our very existence.

As I've aged, I've come to see it as so much more than a simple declaration -- it is our basis, our strength, and at all times our very reason. And marriage, at least the legal trappings of it, is so critical to the ability of people to live fully, to love completely, and to be able to be with each other throughout every eventuality. I'm very happy that these blessings are being extended to ever greater numbers.
