and given the prevalence of right-wing catholics who think their religious beliefs outweigh the constitution or our laws, that's perfectly reasonable line of inquiry. this may have even come up during some senate confirmations of justices, or should have.

again, context matters hugely here. this would be very offensive to ask at a dinner party.
